FIA expresses grave concern regarding the situation of actor César Arakaki and demands his immediate release

On December 18^th, during the massive demonstrations to protest the pension reform plan in Argentina, the actor and activist César Arakaki was arrested. The Argentine Association of Actors (AAA) demanded the immediate release of César Arakaki, who is still in preventive detention at the Marcos Paz prison in Buenos-Aires. FIA strongly supports its member in Argentina and has expressed this in a letter to the judge in charge of Arakaki’s case.

“We believe that this measure seriously undermines Mr. Arakaki's rights and we fear for his physical well-being. We therefore demand the immediate release of Arakaki and condemn all attempts to criminalize social protest, which is contrary to the rule of law that should prevail in a democratic society.”
