Cultural diversity
IN 2005, UNESCO adopted the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. In the preparation phase for this Convention, FIA worked in close cooperation with other observer NGOs in the cultural field at UNESCO to coordinate positions and build support for the Convention among the Government parties to UNESCO. Many of FIA’s members were, and continue to be, active and involved in the national level civil society Coalitions for Cultural Diversity. FIA is supportive of the work of the coalitions at all levels and collaborates with several coalitions for cultural diversity, and their international federal body, in their advocacy work.
