OIRA: Two Health & Safety Tools for the Live Performance Sector

The FIM, FIA, UNI-MEI and Pearle* project to further develop and promote Online Interactive Risk Assessment in the Live Performance Sector is entering its final phase. With the invaluable support of the European Agency for Occupational health and Safety (EU-OSHA, often refered to as the  “Bilbao Agency”) the European Social partners in the Live Performance Sector and their project consultants have published two risk assessment tools: one geared towards Productions and one towards Venues. These tools are freely available at www.oiraproject.eu/oira-tools. You can log-in to create a profile and save your risk assessments or you can simply browse the tools as a guest. A Spanish language version is also under preparation and will be available in the coming months.

The final phase of the project is dedicated to raising awareness about the existence and availability of the tools. A detailed introductory article will be sent for publication to relevant sectoral press. The social partners are also carrying out some outreach efforts through a series of presentations of the tool at events organised by interested sectoral organisations across the EU. Finally, an introductory video has been created and will shortly be shared on FIA’s website and social media, so watch this space!

The current project will round off with a closing event taking place in Athens on the 15 and 16^th of June 2016. This event will aim to offer a detailed insight into the use in practice of the OIRA tool, including during touring. It will also aim to offer an indepth focus on the process and practicalities of developing a national tool, in the national legal framework for use in the national context.
