The Paris AI Action Summit aims to promote reliable, sustainable and responsible AI. For the first time at this level, intellectual property is being discussed.
In the cultural and creative sector, millions of jobs depend on the fair and ethical deployment of AI technologies. This is a critical global issue that cannot be ignored, with profound societal implications for how content is produced and distributed. That is why FIA and other 37 international organisations representing all the creative and cultural sectors are today issuing a call to build a future that reconciles the development of AI with respect for copyright and related rights.
The AI Summit has a special responsibility as there cannot be trusted AI without respect for intellectual property rights, no ethical AI without the authorisation of rightsholders and no sovereign AI without a fair business model. The States who are party to the Summit must seize this opportunity to join us in ensuring that these fundamental rights are respected.
