The fishing scam reaches out to voiceover professionals via e-mail to offer an attractive work opportunity. Once the job is completed, the scammers will ask them to make a refundable deposit via bank transfer to complete the processing of the pending fee payment, which in fact will not be completed. Professionals thus report having worked without being paid, plus being robbed from the amount of the deposit (which is never refunded).
We advise all professionals to be extra cautious when receiving suspicious work offers and contact their national union for any questions or advise.
