Gender Equality Sexual Harassment EuroFIA News Press-releases

To mark the end of the European project "Gender Equality on and off the Stage: A Mapping Project of the European Live Performance Sector", the European social partners have launched the project findings and a resource centre on a dedicated website gender-equality-onandoffstage.eu on 4 March 2022. The day of the launch of the website was chosen to contribute to the International Women’s day held every year on 8 March.

The website brings together a resource centre of good practice examples on gender equality in the live performance sector; as well as recordings of the Gender Equality Thursday webinars which took place with expert speakers in the Autumn of 2021; and a list of useful publications and references on this theme in the sector. The website is available in four languages:    English, French, Spanish and Polish.

Funded by the European Commission, the project ran from February 2020 to January 2022 and constituted a joint undertaking of the European social partners in the live performance sector, represented by Pearle*-Live Performance Europe on the employers’ side and EAEA-European Arts and Entertainment Alliance including FIA (International Federation of Actors), FIM (International Federation of Musicians) and UNI-MEI (media and entertainment division of UNI Global Union) representing workers in the sector.

"The pandemic has placed enormous strain on the Live Performance sector and it is vital that we do not allow those pressures to roll back decades of progress on gender equality. It must remain a priority now more than ever and these good practice examples show how meaningful action may be taken at the national level” said Denys Fouqueray, chair of the trade union delegation in the European Live Performance social dialogue committee.

“This project demonstrated that there is much that we can learn from the various approaches and ideas that have been tried and tested it in different countries. This resource centre aims to capture and share the wealth of information and experience among social partners across the EU” said Tania Swayne, Vice-president of Pearle*-Live Performance Europe.
