About a year after the end of the EU project “Dance Futures: Creating Transition Schemes for Dancers and Promoting Sustainable Mobility in the Dance Sector”, we are happy to report the launch of a new transition scheme for dancers in Belgium: Konvertigo.
One of the aim of the Dance Futures project was to drive forward the establishment of three transition schemes for dancers in Hungary, Spain and Belgium, through the organization or a working seminar in each of the countries with all relevant stakeholders, as well as external international support and expertise.
The Belgian working seminar took place in Brussels on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2017. All key stakeholders took part to the event, including the CGSP Wallonia and Podiumkunsten, the skills council for the performing arts in Flanders. In the aftermath of the working seminar, the CGSP Wallonia worked for the reactivation of the skills council for the performing arts in Wallonia and Brussels – Fonds social pour les arts de la scène Wallonie-Bruxelles – and secured a budget for the project. The Fonds then cooperated with the APEF (Association Paritaire pour l’Emploi et la Formation) to work out the details of the scheme.
Launched in September 2019, Konvertigo is a transition scheme for professional dancers and circus artists. The objectives of Konvertigo are to help the artist: 1/ Assess his/her skills, professionals and personals; 2/ Assess his/her abilities and motivations; 3/ Define a professional project or a training project, and shape an action plan; and 4/ Reposition himself/herself professionally and personally. It intends to do so through individual coaching and a group session. If you want more information about Konvertigo, please visit this website.
Congratulation to our Belgian member, the CGSP, for its persistent work for the creation of this scheme.
