Networks and Partners
Much of FIA’s advocacy work targets international governmental organisations, European institutions as well as, on the request of affiliates, national governments. With a credibility stemming from its global membership and its many years of field experience, the Federation is acknowledged by various supranational entities where it regularly voices the interests of performers, such as:
The Council of Europe
The European Commission
The European Parliament
The International Labour Organization (ILO)
The International Theatre Institute (ITI)
The International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF)
The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)
European Audiovisual Observatory
The growing concentration and internationalisation in the media and entertainment sector makes it all the more necessary for FIA to coordinate with the global trade union movement and work in close partnership with sister federations in related sectors. Together with FIM (the International Federation of Musicians) and UNI MEI (Union Network International – Media, Entertainment and Arts), FIA constitutes the International Arts and Entertainment Alliance, which is officially recognised by the ICFTU as a Global Union Federation. At EU level, the alliance is accredited by the ETUC as a Sectoral Industry Federation.
