FIA continues to promote the ratification of the WIPO Beijing Treaty by countries around the world, with a view to setting a new global norm for the protection of audiovisual performances. Having entered into force on April 28, 2020, the treaty is now legally binding and is more countries are expected to join in the near future. One of these might well be the Republic of Turkey and FIA has been invited to join a team of academics, government officials and representatives of the performer community to exchange on current developments with respect to the IP protection of audiovisual performances and the importance of WIPO Beijing Treaty to promote better standards.
The webinar, which will be held online on January 29, 2021, is co-organized by the Turkish Actors’ Collecting Management Organization (BIROY), the Beykent University Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Law and is supported by the Directorate General for Copyright of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
