The International Federation of Actors (FIA) is a global union federation, representing more than 80 performers’ unions, guilds, and professional associations in over 65 countries around the world. FIA advocates at international level on behalf of its members to protect and enhance the labour, social, moral, and economic rights of performers working in the live performance and recorded media industry.
FIA has recently been alerted by its only Indian trade union affiliate, the Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), of the unauthorized and surreptitious use of our acronym, with identical font colours, by an organization called “Federation of Artists Association” (FAA) – clearly intended to make performers in the country think they belong to a larger international network of likeminded organizations.
FIA has urged the Federation of Artists Association to remove all references to FIA from its website and all their communication material, but our request has fallen on deaf years. We therefore see no other option but to publicly denounce this fake on our media and to clarify, for all intents and purposes, that the only legitimate affiliate of our federation on Indian soil is CINTAA, the oldest and most recognized association for the actors’ community in the country, providing invaluable support to Indian performers and a member of FIA’s Executive Committee.
