With some 90 affiliated organisations in more than 60 countries, FIA is a strong voice for hundreds of thousands of professional performers worldwide. A fundamental aim of FIA's work is to promote networking and solidarity among its membership, fostering the exchange of resources and expertise between affiliates. The Federation has several regional and linguistic groups, which meet regularly to discuss issues of common interest and also to feed into the global policy of the Federation:

 - AfroFIA (Africa)

- EuroFIA (Europe)

- FIA-LA (Latin America)

- FIA-NA (North America)

- FIA-EA (Eurasia)

- One English-speaking group

- One French-speaking group

- One Spanish and Portuguese-speaking group

- One German-speaking group

Activities of the FIA regional and linguistic groups include regular meetings, joint seminars, workshops, training programmes, research projects and publications, regional policy work etc. The FIA Secretariat helps coordinating these activities whenever possible by providing administrative, political as well as own or third party financial support.
