The Euro FIA seminar, which was held in Brussels on November 13 and kindly hosted by ACOD-Cultuur, focussed on “Frequent Problems and Practical Solutions” regarding Performer’s mobility. The event was organised in partnership with On The Move, an information and advocacy network dedicated to the issue of cultural mobility, of which FIA is a member.
This one-day seminar aimed to bring together a range of experiences and expertise on the many issues affecting performers who are mobile. Guest speakers were invited to offer practical answers and approaches to the questions that arise in this context regarding social security and pensions, contractual practices and taxation, as well as the advocacy work still needed in this area.
The day was structured around four thematic panels:
– Double taxation and how to avoid it / expert: Dick Molenaar, All Arts
– Contractual considerations for mobile artists / Anais Lukacs (BAAPE); Michael Van den Eynde (Kunstloket)
– Social security coordination – Administrative issues / Sylvie Douheret (CLEISS)
– Key messages to the EU and national policy-makers / Marie Le Sourd and Maxime Demartin (OTM)
Experts leading the panels started with giving an introductory presentation to the main elements for consideration followed by open discussions with all participants.
Presentations and other resources from the seminar can be requested from the secretariat.
